My English teacher was an elegant British woman with a habit of climbing on her desk or hiding underneath to teach us prepositions
My Spanish teacher would turn the classroom into a projection room, showing us Velasquez and Goya paintings and asking us what we thought.
I absolutely loved these classes.
And I think I got very touched by how they clearly loved their work.

I had 2 careers before being a French teacher and language has always been my “home”, my natural habitat.
But it’s not just that.
What really fascinates me is how people use language, how they learn it, own it and how they tell the world who they are through language.
When I was a Montessori educator, I cried the first time I witnessed a child realizing he could read. His name was James. I was sitting next to him and I thought: “the whole world just opened before him, how huge is that”!
What a privilege to be with someone who’s learning!
Today I’m a French teacher for adults. I don’t cry anymore (I do get wet eyes occasionally) and I don’t climb on tables (never did). And the reason why I teach is the people. I can’t get enough of watching this relationship between a person and the French language forming itself, growing and becoming so important.
I hold 3 masters and 2 certifications from La Sorbonne and NYU in linguistics, education and learning theories. But what really defines my teaching is how I combined everything I did and studied into this labour of love that Lalangue is.
